Minimum Requirements: a high school diploma or GED and completed a relevant Vocational/training program. LPN’s must be state licensed and have completed the NCLEX-PN, CPR, and have a minimum of one year relevant experience. It is imperative that LPN’s have strong decision making skills. Abilities:
In addition to the responsibilities detailed in this job description, the LPN/RN must be able to:
1. Be responsible for the supervision of programming and staff;
2. Understand the needs of the elderly and, in particular, the needs of those affected by cognitive impairments;
3. Be sensitive to the needs of family caregivers
4. Demonstrate good communication skills;
5. Be available to work unscheduled days and hours;
6. Make a commitment to cooperative performance to attain care, organization and programmatic objectives which may entail performing duties not included in this job description.
Responsibilities of the LPN/ RN
The LPN/RN is responsible for supervision of the Activities and program aides; the health care of participants enrolled in the program and administration of the program in the Program Director’s absence.
Responsibilities regarding supervising of staff include:
1. Insuring that staffing levels are adequate to meet the needs of participants in attendance;
2. Resolving any inadequacies in #1 above and reporting to Program Director resolution and/or problems encountered;
3. Conducting daily staff meetings to define the care of participants scheduled for attendance;
4. Conducting quarterly care planning conferences for each participant enrolled;
5. Availability to staff to solve problems regarding all aspects of participant care;
6. Reporting to Program Director any inadequacies in participant care;
7. Together with the Program Director developing staff schedule, staffing levels, staff education and orientation and performance evaluations.
