CHS Health Services currently has a per diem position available for a Licensed Practical Nurse to work on Thursdays from 10a-6:30pm, with a client in Malvern, PA.
SCOPE:
Under minimal supervision, assists the provider in the treatment of patients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a valid, current license (with no limit, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as an LPN in at least one state or territory of the United States. All licenses must be unencumbered and remain in effect during employment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Interviews patient to determine medical problem/condition and documents in chart for provider.
•Obtains and records patient's vital signs and weight.
•Assists provider with patient examination as needed.
•Reviews provider's orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patient.
•Dresses wounds.
•Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
•Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection, and notes time and amount on patients' charts.
•Assembles and uses such equipment as catheters and oxygen suppliers.
•Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples.
•Sterilizes equipment and supplies.
•Maintains supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
•Responds to patient telephone inquiries by evaluating and responding to the patient's problems and questions.
•Follows up with patients on lab results, including the scheduling of any additional tests.
•Be willing to work the front desk.
OTHER DUTIES:
•Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.
•Assists with departmental operations, under direction, to maintain workflow.
•Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition. Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Performs other related duties as assigned.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Must have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). Certification must be issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross standards and renewed every two years.
•Must have documented training and skill verification for the following: Intravenous (IV), Reflctron, and Medication Dispensing LPN Procedure Certifications. All certifications must be approved by the MTF.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
•Potential physical activity. May require heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
•Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
