We currently have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) to provide healthcare services as our Teleretinal Imaging Coordinator at the US Department of Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Greenville, MS.Note that while one year of LPN outpatient experience is required, Teleretinal Imaging training will be provided. Previous experience in ocular exams/imaging a big plus!

Approximately 25% of responsibilities will be in providing LPN back-up as needed to the clinic. The remaining 75% will be in Teleretinal Imaging Services such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Scheduling patients for Teleretinal Imaging Examinations and notifying patients of appointment date and time.
• Conducting specific observation and examination procedures (including pupil dilation) per clinical protocol, capturing clinical quality digital images utilizing a digital Fundus Camera per clinical protocol, documenting collected information in the medical record (CPRS) and forwarding collected clinical information/images to a reading center for interpretation.
• Serving as the central point of contact in a multi-disciplinary, multi-facility team that includes the patient, reading center staff, local primary care providers, local eye care providers and local VA staff.This Position Requires:
• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.
• Current unrestricted Mississippi license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse
• Current and valid BLS certification.
• Minimum of one year outpatient LPN experience.
• Knowledge of complex ocular testing procedures, including: obtaining visual acuity, tonometry, assessing papillary function, assessing extraocular muscle function, and confrontational visual field testing a plus.
• Knowledge of medical/ocular terminology, including abbreviations, definitions and spellings in order to review the medical record to identify patients meeting criteria for Teleretinal Imaging Services and to accurately document examination findings in the medical record.
