POSITION TITLE: Licensed Practical Nurse (Part Time)
REPORTS TO: SALSA, Registered Nurse Designee, Director of Health Services
LOCATION: Fairfield County, Connecticut
Essential Job Responsibilities
· Supervision of services rendered by RSA's/CNA's to assigned clients
· Administration of medications to clients under the written order of a physician or health care practitioner with applicable statutory authority
· Pre-pouring of medications for clients who are able to self-administer medications under the written order of a physician or practitioner
· Provision of nursing services including, but not limited to: client teaching, wellness counseling, health promotion, disease prevention, medication administration and provision of care to chronic and stable clients as determined by physician or health care practitioner
· Other tasks as delegated by Registered Nurse and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse
· Participation in continuing education programs
QUALIFICATIONS
· Licensed Practical Nurse licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut
· Two years full time or full time equivalent clinical experience
· Experience and/or special interest working with older adults
WORKING BEHAVIORS
· Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures
· Report on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs
· Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families and visitors
· Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, facility operations and personnel
· Promote the Maplewood Communities in a positive way
· Promote teamwork in providing services to residents
STANDARDS
· Residents always come first, and their needs will be met unless there is a conflict with the needs of others or the organization as a whole
· Employees will not work under the influence of mood altering or illegal drugs or alcohol
· Neat appearance, adherence to the dress code and good personal hygiene are expected
· All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with Maplewood Communities philosophy.
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Works in office and throughout community
· Able to travel by car to homes of prospective residents for purpose of assessment
· Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel and visitors
· Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. including HIV, AIDS and Hepatitis B virus
· May be required to work extended hours
· Required to be on-call for emergencies
· May be required to work weekends or holidays
· Background check required Location: Maplewood at Orange
