The Medical Assistant/LPN is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical duties, and environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for appointment scheduling and chart management as needed. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Conveys a positive image of the clinic. May be assigned to specific medical specialty (e.g. podiatry) to help the patient with care related to that specialty.
Average Weekly Hours:
40 hours/wk; Hours between 8:00 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m.
Hiring Range Description:
Medical Assistant Grade P-16/P-20; Hiring Range: $11.96 - $16.22. LPN Grade: N-90/N-91; Hiring Range: $14.16 - $16.93.
Education:
P-16: High school diploma, some college preferred. P-20: Successful completion of a Medical Assistant course. P-20 Obtains appropriate certificate indicating successful of Medical Assistant program. N90/91: Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Vermont.
Experience:
Minimum of one year work experience in public contact job, preferably service related. Health care work experience preferred.
Special Skills / Other:
Knowledge of healthcare field and medical specialty. Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families. Skill in performing tasks appropriately. Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families. Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Ability to project a pleasant and professional image. Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks. Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
