Part-time LPN's Part Time (Spartanburg, SC - Summit Hills, SC )

Summit Hills a Premier CCRC in Spartanburg, SC is currently seeking LPN's To Join the Team!

The LPN assists the care plan team in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of resident assessments and care plans. This position charts for assigned units, assigns residents to nursing attendants as needed, and assists in the medication management, dietary restrictions and overall healthcare programs for the residents on an assigned unit under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services or Charge Nurse.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Represents the campus in a positive manner while creating an environment that fosters respect and courtesy for residents and employees alike. Works within the campus programs to promote safety and the well-being of all residents and employees.
2. Upholds the campuss Mission Statement.
3. Maintains HIPAA standards and regards all medical or healthcare information pertaining to residents and employees as confidential.
5. Makes rounds in assigned units evaluating residents well being and assures that each incident or unusual occurrence with a resident is documented properly following the guidelines set forth by the institution and applicable with all regulatory agencies.
6. Charts for each resident in the assigned unit.
7. Assigns residents to all nursing attendants on the unit, as needed.
8. Places or receives calls from the physicians and transcribes all physician orders. Administer or supervise all treatments prescribed by physicians.
9. Makes rounds with physicians as needed and records all comments and visits.
10. Administers resident medications, assess response to medications and treatments and make appropriate adjustments or recommendations for nursing activity to be implemented. Orders all new medications and administers the initial dose as well as charting the dosage.
11. Assists the serving of prescribed diets and fluid intake to residents. Reports any persistent problems or complications to the DON and the residents physician.
12. Identifies safety hazards in the workplace and reports these to the Healthcare Administrator while issuing corrective action.
13. Ensures that all medications are properly charted after their administration.
14. Administers all intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
15. Insures that drugs falling under the controlled substances act are documented, counted and properly stored.
16. Inventories nursing supplies for assigned unit.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Occasional travel may be required for training sessions, continuing education opportunities, emergency situations, and other company functions.
2. Responsible for knowledge of fire and safety procedures including those involving blood-borne pathogens.
3. Remains in proper attire at all times and maintains a high standard of appearance.
4. Maintains professional development by attending in-service and continuing education programs.
5. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services or Charge Nurse.
PREREQUISITES:
A. Education
- High school graduation or GED required.
- Four year college or university degree desired.
- Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
B. Direct Previous Experience
- Two years experience in a similar healthcare position required.
- Five years of healthcare experience desired.
- Remain in good standing with all standards of the Nurse Practice Act.
C. Skills:
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) plus the willingness to learn other computer programs if required.
- Ability to work with minimal or close supervision.
- Must conduct all business with a professional manner and with a high level of confidentiality.
D. Abilities:
- Work indoors for the majority of the work day (fluorescent lights, HVAC system, carpeted and tile flooring, normal office noise levels).
- Climb up to two flights of stairs occasionally.
- Lift objects of 25 pounds or less over the head.
- Move objects of 40 pounds or less.
- Ability to work in time-sensitive or stressful situations.
- Exposed to physical/verbal abuse by certain residents under mental or physical impairment.
- Exposure to needles, infections, wounds, medical equipment, and the like.
- Sit in a chair / stand for extended periods.
- Respond to medical emergencies in all areas of the campus.
- Assist with resident evacuations.

Compensation: 17.00-19.00 an hour
